Avoid these common pitfalls when launching a business offering
Launching your offering can feel incredibly vulnerable and overwhelming, but it really doesn't have to be. Through my experience and work with clients, I've noticed a few common mistakes that mean your incredible gifts and offerings don't get into the hands of people it could really help & transform their lives. Which is such a disservice to your work and for them!
Let's uncover these pitfalls and their solutions so you can launch with clarity and confidence. And start receiving consistently and abundantly!
1. Trying to Appeal to Everyone (that you end up attracting no one)
Mistake: Casting your net too wide will only dilute your message and leave you struggling to connect with the right audience. More people is not better. Dialing in your niche and attracting your people will not only mean aligned clients find you but you will have happy clients because your offering is MADE for them.
Solution: Focus on your ideal client and targeted niche (which we explore deeply in Create Space because there are many aspects of your charts that point to this). Why is niching so important? People need to understand that your offering is exactly for them and will solve a problem they are having. If they don't see themselves in your messaging and offering, they won't invest.
Bonus tip: Often you are guiding on something you have moved through, so speak to your past self and share what you needed to know at that time.
2. Overcomplicating Your Offering and Not Being Specific Enough
Mistake: I see so many thinking they need to “add more” to their offerings to make it seem more valuable but it gets overcomplicated. Confused, overwhelmed people don't invest.
Solution: People need to know exactly how you can help them solve a problem they have. Being too vague, open-ended and too wishy-washy will mean your offering falls on deaf ears. People will think your offering is just a nice-to-have but a must-have! Adding too many features or services can overwhelm both you and your audience. Simplify your offering. Start with one clear, impactful offering that will create consistent revenue. Once that's established, you can expand.
3. Competing on Price and not Value
Mistake: If you compete by lowering your price, you will be a price-based commodity business. You will attract clients based on lowest price concessions. This is a sure-fast way to lead you to your Not Self of frustration and burn out.
Solution: Compete on value, not price. Value is not how much you give, but your ability to help someone solve a problem they have. Creating an offering that streamlines that process is highly valuable and priceless to your ideal client.
4. Skipping Market Research
Mistake: You may think you know your ideal client and audience in and out. But one thing I have learnt through my own experience and successful entrepreneurs, market research is everything. Never assume what your audience wants without validating it.
Solution: Talk to your potential market. I love to have one-on-one conversations to understand their needs. Use their language in your content and marketing materials. Go back to your own journals and reflect on how you were feeling at the time you needed support. This is absolute gold!
6. Ignoring Your Natural Genius and Strengths, and Replicating what's already being done
Mistake: Creating a business that's not aligned with your natural talents or Human Design takes you off course and leads to burnout, frustration and making things so much harder than they need to be. You have these gifts for a reason because your Soul needed them to fulfil your purpose. Don't just follow trends that don't work for you.
Solution: Build your business around your strengths and unique energy. Gone are the days of being generic & profitable. The market is craving authenticity, differentiation and uniqueness! Without understanding the true depth of your energetic blueprint & aligned strategy for success, you'll end up creating a business that just replicates another, works against you or even repels the clients & community you desire. You and your gifts have unmatched value - so why would your business be any different! Look to your HD over how you 'should' do it.
7. Overlooking Joy in Your Process
Mistake: Building a business that feels like a grind will eventually drain you. If you burn yourself out in the launch process, you have nothing to give once your offering starts.
Solution: Listen to your intuition and desires. Prioritise self care and nervous system regulation practices through the rollercoaster of emotions. Leverage your energetic aura, intuitive authority, role in the market, message to deliver and service to spread. When you enjoy the process, it's easier to stay committed, creative and inspired. Don't make the mistake of creating a business that feels hard and you hate.
