Time & Pressure: Root Center
I want to talk about time and how we spend it. I know that for many, even that statement can create a ripple of anxiety. I see and hear so many people in my sessions share that they feel like they are running out of time. There is this pressure but it ultimately doesn't create positive feelings or action. It creates overwhelm, procrastination or defeat that their time has passed.
GOSH it couldn't be further from the truth!!
You know that thing that is “too big” or “would take too long” to do? It’s never too late to give it a go.
No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.
You miss every opportunity or possibility that you never give a chance. That’s my definition of actually failing. There is no better time than now.
When we perceive that a HUGE mountain needs to be climbed to get somewhere, it can feel too daunting to start. But really, you don’t have to tackle the mountain top in one day or one season. It’s called life’s work for a reason - there is no final destination, just an extensive portfolio of how you decided to play with life.
You can start, make some headway, take a detour, get back on track, enjoy the view, celebrate your progress, rest, then onto the next peak.
Whether it is establishing a new home, starting a new career or job, launching a project, moving through a fear, changing your relationship to others or yourself. It doesn’t matter how long it may take, when you start taking steps to chip at it, it’ll happen. It has to! And it will happen quicker than you think - we over-inflate what we think it will take when momentum moves pretty quick once you actually start.
Slow progress is better than no action at all.
You have time to change your mind.
You have time to start again.
You have time to learn a new skill.
You have time to reinvent your career.
You have time to find out what you want.
You have time to create your vision.
You have time to live differently to how you do now.
You have time to quit your job & create your thing.
You have time to change your identity & path 10x over.
What you don’t have time for ~ worrying that you missed your chance. Fearing that you’ll run out of time.
Your life is happening while you wish you were further along.
It’s all happening even while you’re wishing it was something different.
Yes, life is short but it’s also very long. It’s never too late. You’ll waste precious time if you think that way.
But you DO need to start creating change if you want change. You can't create difference if you keep perpetuating sameness. You need to CREATE the SPACE for you to work out what your thing is. And most often than not, it means following and exploring what you are curious and excited in.
